You can learn about volunteer opportunities with the Lake County Forest Preserve District during an open house event at the district's main office near Libertyville. The session is set to run from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5. It's open to anyone 15 or older. Registration is not required. The office is at 2000 N. Milwaukee Ave.
