Challenge filed to Arlington Hts. trustees
Challenges to the candidacies of two Arlington Heights trustees running for re-election, will be heard at 10 a.m. Friday in village hall.
Keith Moens, who ran unsuccessfully for trustee three times, filed objections against the petitions filed by incumbents Thomas Hayes and John Scaletta. He was joined by Jim Elgas, who said any comment would have to come from Moens, who could not be reached.
According to the objections, Moens and Elgas represent a group called Citizens for Fair Election. This is the first time in six years there has been a challenge for trustee candidates, said Village Clerk Edwina Corso.
The electoral board that will rule on the objections is made up of Mayor Arlene Mulder, Corso, and the trustee with the longest tenure who is not being challenged — in this case, Tom Stengren.
Besides Hayes and Scaletta, incumbent Carol Blackwood, resident Mike Sidor and Bruce Green, chairman of the plan commission, are seeking the four open seats on the board.
