Wis. judge may Bosnian Serb travel for work

MILWAUKEE — A federal judge in Milwaukee is set to consider whether to allow a Bosnian Serb accused of hiding his role in a civilian massacre to leave Wisconsin for work.

Prosecutors say Mladjen Cvijanovic lied in his 2002 application for refugee status by failing to disclose that he served in a police unit that helped round up fleeing Muslim civilians during the 1995 invasion of Srebrenica. About 8,000 men and boys were killed, although Cvijanovic is not accused of killing anyone himself.

Cvijanovic, a long-haul trucker, has been ordered to limit his travel to Wisconsin while his case is pending. He has asked permission to resume traveling out of state for work.

U.S. Magistrate Judge William E. Callahan is scheduled to take up the request on Tuesday.
