2 die of carbon monoxide poisoning in Indiana
HUNTINGTON, Ind. — Authorities say a northern Indiana man and a teenage boy died of apparent carbon monoxide poisoning while working inside the cargo area of a box truck.
Huntington police found 58-year-old Larry Covey and 17-year-old Shane Covey inside the truck on Wednesday after the elder Covey's wife reported not seeing them since the night before.
Huntington County Coroner Leon Hurlburt says there was a generator in the cargo area to power tools and lights as they worked to convert the truck into a service vehicle. Hurlburt tells The Journal Gazette that the exhaust fumes from the industrial-size generator built up without ventilation.
Hurlburt says the Coveys are related, but wasn't immediately sure how.
