Track conditions, weather cancel Hawthorne races
Hawthorne Race Course canceled live racing on Thursday due to track conditions.
Rapid surface melting, precipitation, and a frozen base all contributed to potentially unsafe conditions. Race Track management and horsemen decided it was in the best interests of all to cancel racing for the day.
Racing will resume on Friday for the last day of the meet. After Friday's card, live racing at Hawthorne will return in February.
Hawthorne has two carryovers, the Pick 6 with $3,887.25 and the Pick 9 with $5,874.23. There will be a mandatory payout on both as well as all other wagers.
