Weather continues to strand passengers in Chicago
Chicago airports continue to frustrate travelers heading into the new year as dense fog and lingering East Coast weather conditions have forced flight cancellations and delays.
As of 5 p.m. Wednesday, O'Hare International and Midway airports have had 50 cancellations each and are averaging flight delays of 45 minutes, according to the Chicago Department of Aviation.
Dense fog is expected to spread throughout the Chicago area overnight as temperatures are predicted to climb into the lower 40s by Thursday afternoon.
Two travelers stuck in big crowds at O'Hare were scheduled to fly to New York hoping see the ball drop on New Year's Eve, but they had their flight canceled today.#8220;We booked tickets quite a while ago. We printed out the boarding passes, checked in last night, thought we were good to go and today they canceled it. It is frustrating,#8221; Sarah White told ABC 7.
