Prosperity depends on the rich
Mr. Glassman should stick with motorcycles instead of trying to understand economics.
What do rich people do with all the money they get? Do they bury it in their backyard or basement? Do they put it in their mattress? Do they send it to some other planet?
No they invest it in stocks and bonds so they can get richer because like all of us their greed is what makes America run.
The companies they invest in will in turn convert that money into more products and more buildings that can produce more of their products for more profit. And who will make those products? Why they will have to hire more people to create them whether it's Harley's or Chevy's and those people will now have jobs. It's a never-ending cycle.
P.S., Mr. Glassman. If Congress took money from the rich, do you really believe that the president and the Democrats are going to use it to cut the deficit? You would be better off believing in Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy.
The only time we had a surplus in the last 60 years was when Newt Gingrich and the Republican House created it. The media would have you believe the President Clinton did it, but Mr. Clinton was like the lead snowball in an avalanche. He wasn't leading; he was being pushed.
