Passenger severely injured in Long Grove crash
A passenger of an SUV was transported from the scene of a Long Grove crash Monday afternoon with life-threatening injuries, according to authorities.
Rescue crews responded to the three-vehicle accident on Route 22 just west of the North Krueger intersection at approximately 12:30 p.m. and rushed to extricate a passenger stuck in the back seat of an SUV, said Long Grove Fire District Deputy Chief Ken Buchardt.
It took emergency crews six minutes to get the passenger out of the back seat before transporting the person to an area hospital to be treated for a “major injury,” Buchardt said.
The “T-bone type” crash involved the SUV, a minivan and a conversion van, which were all towed from the scene.
A second person was transported to a hospital with minor injuries and three others injured in the crash signed releases at the scene, Buchardt said.
Route 22 was shut down for about 90 minutes after the crash, authorities said.
Rescue crews from Buffalo Grove, Lincolnshire and Lake Zurich assisted Long Grove.
