Barrington chamber launches wellness program
The Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce (BACC) has given businesses one more reason to locate or remain in the Barrington area; the creation of LiveHealthyBarrington.com, a website based corporate wellness program.
Being sensitive to business needs, BACC knows that more and more, today's companies are investing in the health and well-being of their employees, resulting in improved efficiency, lower health costs, and an overall more positive work environment.
After a year of searching, Janet Meyer, BACC president and chief executive officer, introduced the program to the chamber's Health Care Council members and board of directors; promoting the program as being the first step in 100 Days to a Healthy You!
The Live Healthy Barrington is a 100-Day Wellness Challenge, a program available to all 17,000 employees of the chamber family, beginning on Jan, 20. Overall the program is an exciting way for one to connect with co-workers, friends, family to get active and become conscious of the lifestyle decisions we make on a daily basis.
The Live Healthy Barrington program uses a fun, team-centric approach, helping to create positive choices when it comes to physical activity and nutrition. Teams of two-10 compete online in the weight loss, activity minutes or both categories resulting in team motivation, individual accountability and data-driven results. Community partnerships have been developed with programs and fitness centers enlightening employees and their families and making room for change- affecting each individual's mind, body and spirit for the better. Once registered, the party can explore discounted memberships and services.
The chamber will be offering a series of informational meetings and webinex's to introduce Live Health Barrington. The fee is $20 participant, with several businesses already committing to a portion of the fee for their work force. Each participant will receive a Live Healthy training shirt, personal online tracking page and journal, 100 days access of TrainingPerks, a one-year subscription to a national lifestyle magazine and weekly e-mails to help the parties stay motivated to meet their goals.
