Wheeling man charged with threatening police

A Cook County Judge Friday set bail at $100,000 for a 27-year-old Wheeling man accused of threatening police with a 15-inch knife during a domestic dispute. No one was hurt in the situation, which occurred at 8:54 a.m. Sunday in the 2900 block of 10th Street in Wheeling.

Edgar Lopez is charged with four counts of aggravated assault and is next due in court on Jan. 26. Assistant State's Attorney Katherine Levine said officers responding to the call found Lopez in a kitchen with a 15-inch knife, and that he ignored several commands from officers to drop it. He finally stabbed it into the kitchen countertop and then was arrested, she said.
