West Aurora notches 1st victory

West Aurora snapped an 0-11 skid to start the year with a 48-39 win over Jacobs on Tuesday at the Wheaton North Falcon Classic.

Alexis Nelson led the Blackhawks with 21 points, 4 assists and 4 rebounds. Dazmine Chaney added 13 points, 6 assists, 3 rebounds and 5 steals.

West Aurora (1-11) will play Hinsdale Central at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Hinsdale Central 49, St. Charles East 45: The Saints (3-10) battled back all game after falling behind 21-4 after one quarter Tuesday at the Wheaton North Falcon Classic.

St. Charles East outscored Hinsdale Central 17-10 in the third quarter and 15-7 in the fourth quarter in its second straight loss at the tournament.

Paige Jordan returned from her hand injury and scored 5 points. Freshman Amanda Hilton led the Saints with 17 points and junior Morgan Vyzial scored 12.

St. Charles East will play Jacobs at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.
