A taste of 'Heaven'
A taste of ‘Heaven'
7th Heaven, the long-standing and indefatigable Chicago band known for its relentless work ethic and energetic, arena-rock sound, will play a day-after-Christmas show in the suburbs. Come by to see some lively covers along with the band's anthemic original tunes.
10 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 26, at Durty Nellie's, 180 N. Smith St., Palatine. $7. Go to durtynellies.com.
Holiday hangover?
Local alt-country heroes Robbie Fulks and Nora O'Connor will play an “Xmas Hangover Duo Show” next week at the Hideout. O'Connor, guitarist and background vocalist for the Blacks, is a tremendous singer in her own right, with a voice both tough and sweet. Fulks is one of the area's best songwriters, a witty original. This is a rare chance to see these two perform together. I'd take it.
7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27, at the Hideout, 1354 W. Wabansia, Chicago. $10. Go to hideoutchicago.com.
Early glimpse
DuPage County power-pop band Lucky Boys Confusion will play a couple of shows over New Year's Eve weekend (see related Time out! story). If you have other plans or can't score tickets, the band will play a special acoustic show on Wednesday in Chicago.
7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, at the Beat Kitchen, 2100 W. Belmont Ave., Chicago. $15. Go to beatkitchen.com.
