View logo contest designs on city's website

Following an outstanding response to the city's call for aspiring artists to create the Naperville Smart Grid Initiative logo, the public has selected its favorite designs through online voting. The top 10 logos are now available to view at www.naperville.il.us/smartgridlogocontest.aspx.

More than 2,000 online votes narrowed down submitted logos to the final 10 designs. More than 100 entries were received, including 49 student submissions from Neuqua Valley and 16 from Naperville North. Mayor A. George Pradel and city council members are currently selecting a winning logo from the 10 that received the most online votes. Mayor Pradel will personally notify the winning artist, and the selected logo will be unveiled at an upcoming city council meeting.

“The city is thrilled to have received so many excellent logo submissions,” Community Relations Manager Nadja Lalvani said. “All of the submissions show our residents are excited about the smart grid project and the benefits it brings to Naperville. The top 10 designs are great representations of the future of power and how the smart grid is changing the way we think about electricity.”

Through Dec. 1, artists submitted their visual interpretations of the smart grid and how it will empower electric customers to take charge of their energy usage. The smart grid initiative is an investment in Naperville's city-owned utility to modernize the electric grid using the latest digital technology to increase reliability, reduce operating costs, improve efficiency and reduce waste.

This forward-thinking project gives residential and business customers more choices about how they use electricity and more control over what they pay for it. More information about the smart grid initiative is available at www.naperville.il.us/smartgrid.aspx.
