'Social Network' named best film by Chicago critics

That Facebook movie just keeps friending critics all over the place.

The Chicago Film Critics Association found little to unlike in David Fincher's “The Social Network,” and Monday awarded it top prize for best picture, along with best director and adapted screenplay for writer Aaron Sorkin.

The mind-bending thriller “Inception” won original screenplay and cinematography. The intense psychodrama “Black Swan” earned Natalie Portman a best actress award, along with recognition for original score.

Colin Firth was awarded best actor for his performance as King George VI in the British drama “The King's Speech.”

Christian Bale won supporting actor plaudits for his role as a former boxer turned crack addict in “The Fighter.”

Newcomer Hailee Steinfeld received the supporting actress prize for her debut screen performance in “True Grit.”

The intense French prison drama “A Prophet” was named best foreign-language film. The oddball “Exit Through the Gift Shop” won for documentary.

“Toy Story 3” was awarded the prize for animated feature. Jennifer Lawrence was named promising performer for her work in the acclaimed indie drama “Winter's Bone,” and Derek Cianfrance received the promising filmmaker prize for “Blue Valentine.”
