Marston a lock for Pingree Grove mayor
Unless he changes his mind, Greg Marston will be the next village president of Pingree Grove.
As of 5 p.m. on Monday, the end of the filing period, Marston was the only candidate to file for the top post in the Kane County village.
Current Village President Wyman “Clint” Carey is not seeking re-election.
The village board election will have slightly more competition, with four candidates vying for three, 4-year terms: Raymond Lamarca, Brian Paszkiwicz, plan and zoning Commissioner Robert Spieker and Bernard Thomas.
Incumbent Steve Wiedmeyer is running unopposed for a 2-year seat on the board.
Joanna Wester, wife of former Village President Verne “Bud” Wester, is the only person who filed for village clerk. The position, previously filled by appointment, will be elected in the spring because village officials recently discovered that it was supposed to be an elected position.
Former Clerk Michelle Figuerola said last week she would not seek election to her former post, declining to elaborate on her reasons. She quit in November.
