Chicago boy shot by elderly woman pleads guilty
A 12-year-old boy who was shot by an elderly woman after he threw bricks at her and her home has pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges in juvenile court.
The boy and his 13-year-old co-defendant pled guilty Monday to aggravated assault of a senior citizen and criminal damage to property.
A judge says the two will likely be sentenced to probation next month.
The woman, 68-year-old Margaret Matthews, shot the pair after they lobbed bricks at her and her South Side home.
The 12-year-old was shot in the shoulder. The other boy wasn't hurt.
The mother of the 13-year-old boy told reporters outside court Monday that her son hadn't done anything wrong.
Matthews says she doesn't feel probation is a strict enough punishment. She wasn't charged with shooting the boy.
