Danos’ 34 not enough for Aurora Christian

Aurora Christian point guard Dean Danos had a whopper of a game, but it was not enough to stop Lisle.

In a nonconference game in Lisle, the hosts won 80-70 despite a game-high 34 points by Danos, the 5-foot-8 junior. He made five 3-point baskets and went 7-for-10 from the foul line. Ryan McQuade added 16 points, including four 3s, for the Eagles (5-5).

Phil Palicka scored 25 points to lead 3-6 Lisle, followed by Chris Wray with 15 points and 17 from Kyle Frazier, who made four 3-point baskets of his own.

Lincoln Way North 54, Geneva 50: The Vikings (5-7) took a 19-8 lead in the first half at the Plainfield North Tournament Saturday, but L-Way North point guard Lance Payne (16 points) led his team back to a 22-20 lead at halftime.

The Phoenix (3-9) took a 27-24 lead on Daryle Morgan’s 3-pointer, sparking a 10-1 run in the second half that provided an early cushion.

L-Way North’s Jake Harper hit back to back 3’s and Trey Lewis hit a deep shot following Harper as the Phoenix kept Geneva at bay in the fourth quarter.

Dan Trimble had 14 points for Geneva and Will Doeckel 9 as both were named to the all-tournament team.
