Naperville high school students win holiday window contest

Art students from Naperville North, Waubonsie Valley and Neuqua Valley high schools have met the challenges posed in the third annual holiday “War of the Windows,” sponsored by Naperville Dental Specialists and General Oral Health Care and Innovative Orthodontic Centers.

More than two dozen students recently gathered at Main Street Promenade to create the holiday spirit on dental windows that add sparkle to the second-floor hallway of the building.

Students were asked to design and paint windows that capture the festive season and to include the downtown holiday mascot, Max the Moose, somewhere in their compositions.

Within hours of their arrival, the teens transformed the windows into winter villages, gingerbread houses, playful penguins and huskies, snowmen and other scenes.

Doctors from both dental offices and their staffs voted on the windows and selected winners in three categories. Dr. Anthony LaVacca and Dr. Manal Ibrahim will present checks to the winners for their schools' art programs.

The winners are:

• Best Overall Window ($500 prize) Naperville North

• Best Holiday Scene (($250 prize) Waubonsie Valley

• Best School Spirit ($250 prize) Neuqua Valley
