6 charged with kidnapping Montgomery business owner

Police say five men and one teen are charged with felony kidnapping after forcing a 69-year-old business owner into a van and holding him for more than seven hours.

Police say the five men and one 16-year-old made two ransom demands during the Dec. 7 incident. The Chicago Tribune reports that authorities say the group received no payment before the business owner was released early the next day.

Police say the van used in the kidnapping was set on fire. They say three of those involved in the kidnapping were employees. Police have apprehended three of the charged people and are searching for the other three. The Tribune reports that the FBI is assisting Montgomery police with investigations.

Montgomery is south of Aurora.
