Des Plaines tax bill outrageous

My Cook County 2009 property tax assessment decreased $2,100 from 2008 yet my overall tax increase for 2009 was 25 percent!

Some of the goodies that I paid for:

• A 15 percent increase in my city tax although I've been told that the city only approved a 2 percent increase for 2009.

• Along with that, I noticed that Des Plaines' pension assessment almost equaled the total I paid for the other six pension funds on my bill a big part of this is the police and fireman funds, I suspect.

• Lastly, there's the Dist. 214 tax increase of 26 percent and Dist. 59 increase of 31 percent.

Good thing we taxpayers can't vote for some of these outrages ‘cause you know what the responses would be, but I'll remember come the next elections.
