Boeger advocates are doing Arlington Hts. dirt with lawsuit
Daveri, NAMI and Thresholds have stepped way over the line in their recently lawsuit against the Village of Arlington Heights. These three entities went out of their way to try and keep the project a secret from local residents, which was beyond disrespectful. It was by luck that a few local residents were able to spread the word regarding this project that was able to catch our attention.
At the hearing on May 17th, the advocates had their chance to make their proposal for Boeger Place. When faced with thorough questions on various subjects such as transportation, staffing, and more regarding the project, Jessica Berzac from Daveri kept showing an evasive attitude instead of giving solid answers. It completely hurt the credibility and trustworthiness of all advocates for the Boeger Place Project.
All in all, the village was very fair to the advocates. They narrowly lost, as the vote was 4-3. Not only was the location not ideal, but they were also asking for outlandish zoning variances, such as cramming 30 people into a building that should be zoned for no more than 16. No entity would get approved for variances they were requesting.
Since then, the advocates have had an opportunity to look out for the best interests for the mentally ill and find a more appropriate location and present their case again. Instead, they have taken a hostile action by filing a lawsuit against our great town crying discrimination in hopes of forcing this project to pass.
To me, the advocates have shown not only disrespect to our community, but also to the people you claim to represent the mentally ill.
You are falsely defaming our character. The only conclusion I can come to for your reason for wanting this location so badly is more money in the advocates' pockets, as this piece of land is less expensive.
If the advocates have any respect left in them, they should drop the lawsuit, apologize to village trustees and residents, and continue their quest for a home for the mentally ill in a more appropriate location.
