Closing arguments under way in Chicago mob trial

The attorney for a reputed Chicago mob figure faced with federal racketeering charges says the government didn't prove its case.

Attorney Terry Gillspie represents Michael "the Large Guy" Sarno.

In closing arguments at Sarno's trial Friday, Gillespie says there's no evidence tying his client to any ongoing criminal enterprise — or the bombing of a Berwyn video poker-machine distributor.

Gillespie says the case amounts to guilt by association.

Federal prosecutors have tried to tie Sarno and his alleged crew to the 2003 explosion at C&S Coin Operated Amusements.

They say Sarno ordered that the company be bombed to send a message to its owners not to encroach on his turf.

Sarno and four others have pleaded not guilty to racketeering charges.

Closing arguments could wrap up Friday.
