Remember to prepare Winter Storm Survival Kits

With the below normal temperatures in the area, the City of Naperville reminds all residents to prepare winter storm survival kits for their homes and vehicles.

“The holidays are a busy travel time for families, and it is important to make sure you and your loved ones are safe on the road,” Community Relations Manager Nadja Lalvani said. “Please make sure that you have a winter storm survival kit packed in your car at all times. A similar winter storm survival kit should also be easily accessible in your home. During these below freezing temperatures, drivers should maintain a full tank of gas if at all possible in case roads become impassable and they become stranded for a period of time.”

The Illinois Emergency Management Agency has developed a preparedness document that includes valuable information on how to prepare winter storm survival car and home kits as well as driving safety tips. This document is available to view at http://tinyurl.com/2emyp4n.
