Is this the future of Carol Stream?

I found no reason to applaud the members of the 2010 Carol Stream 83 lbs. Gold Panther Football Team who received commendations from Mayor Frank Saverino during the Dec. 6 board of trustees meeting.

These young people need to learn that there are rules of behavior that champions follow both on and off the field. Each of these boys took their turn at the podium proudly proclaiming the position he played on the team, and each then turned to the mayor, took the commendation without extending a hand or a thank you and returned to his seat.

They left the meeting loudly laughing and talking among themselves, oblivious to the fact that an official meeting was still taking place. As the last one of them walked out of the village chambers, our mayor remarked, “That is the future of Carol Stream.”
