Garage fire in Carpentersville

A wood-burning stove started a small garage fire in Carpentersville Thursday evening, firefighters said.

At 5:17 p.m. firefighters responded to the call on Sparrow Road. Exhaust from the stove, located in the homeowners' detached garage, heated up and set fire to the eaves, fire Lt. Chris Bolliger said.

The fire was under control in about 10 minutes, Bolliger said. The main house didn't catch fire, and the garage is in usable condition.
