District 62 to host fundraiser for child with birth defects

A community fundraiser for the daughter of two Des Plaines Elementary District 62 teachers born with serious birth defects will be held this January.

Maggie Sloan, daughter of Jamie and Jaime Sloan, was born June 18 of this year with cerebro costo mandibular syndrome. Maggie has a recessed chin, a lack of ribs, spinal abnormalities, loss of hearing, and other issues which require constant care.

The fundraiser will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Jan. 23 at Forest Elementary School, 1375 Fifth Avenue, Des Plaines. It will include a silent auction, raffles, split-the-pot, entertainment, kids games, bake sale, food, and drinks.

Admission is $5 per person or $20 for a family of four or more and free for children 2 years old and under. The ticket price is good for one food item, one drink, and one raffle ticket per person. Additional food, drink, or raffle tickets are $1 each.

Donations are welcome. All proceeds go toward the Maggie Sloan Fund. E-mail kosmickis@d62.org to be added to this event. For more information, visit miraclemaggie.com.
