Hwy. 41 in Wisconsin closed with multi vehicle crash

ALLENTON, Wis. — Sheriff's officials say a medical examiner has been dispatched to a southeastern Wisconsin highway where two crashes involving multiple vehicles have occurred.

Washington County Sheriff's Lt. Martin Schulteis says Highway 41 is closed in both directions near Allenton until 4 p.m. Schulteis says a semi tanker filled with ammonium hydroxide slammed into a number of vehicles that were backed up because of another accident a short time earlier.

Schulteis says it doesn't appear that the tanker spilled any of the chemical.

He says there were as many as six injuries, including two people who were airlifted to a hospital. He says there's no indication that weather or icy roads were a factor.

The first crash was reported Wednesday about 9:15 a.m. The second was reported an hour later.
