College football hall in Ind. at least 1 more year

SOUTH BEND, Ind. — The College Football Hall of Fame will stay in South Bend through at least the end of 2011 and possibly through 2012.

The South Bend Tribune reports that city officials and the National Football Foundation have reached an agreement on terms of how the hall will leave South Bend. The group announced more than a year ago plans to move the hall to Atlanta.

An attorney for South Bend says the city won't have to repay a $1.5 million loan the foundation gave during the hall's early years to fund its operations. The city will have to pay the foundation $137,000.

Attorney Richard Nussbaum says if the city finds a new tenant for the building by March 31, the hall must leave by the end of next year.
