Antioch man gets probation in cocaine sale

An Antioch man was placed on probation for two years Wednesday after pleading guilty to selling cocaine to undercover police.

Lake County Assistant State's Attorney Scott Hoffert said Anthony Petrillo, 27, was also fined $3,550 by Circuit Judge Fred Foreman.

Hoffert said Petrillo, of the 400 block of Harden Street, was arrested March 11, 2009 by agents of the Lake County Metropolitan Enforcement Group.

Petrillo met with an undercover officer Feb. 2, 2009 in the 25000 block of Old Grass Lake Road and March 1 in the 900 block of Route 59 and sold the officer less than 10 grams of cocaine each time, Hoffert said.

On March 11, there was a second meeting at the Route 59 location where Petrillo agreed to sell the officer one ounce of cocaine for $1,000, Hoffert said.

Petrillo was taken into custody immediately after accepting the cash in the transaction, Hoffert said.

Petrillo could have been sentenced to up to 15 years in prison if convicted after a trial, Hoffert said.
