Officials could speak on link to border shootings
Authorities are expected to say more about whether an armed man killed by a customer during a weekend robbery attempt at an OrlandPark tanning salon is the same man who terrorized the Illinois-Indiana border two months ago in apparently random shootings.
The Will County sheriff's office says it would likely comment further on the matter Tuesday but didn't offer details. Orland Park, is northwest of the border area where an unknown gunman struck. The October attacks drew national attention after the gunman asked one victim about honeybees.
On Saturday, customer Jason McDaniel walked into an L.A. Tan during the robbery and managed to grab a handgun from the robber. McDaniel then fatally shot the man twice. Salon managers call McDaniel a hero.
