GOP inconsistent in tax message

The Democratic Party voted 228-12 in favor of a cost of living adjustment, HR5987, which would have provided a $250 check to retirees, veterans and the disabled in the year 2011.

The Republican Party blocked HR5987 with a vote of 26 yes and 141 no.

How can the Republicans justify voting “no” on HR5987 while, at the same time, insisting on the retention of the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy?
