Groups to discuss Indiana charity gambling rules
FORT WAYNE, Ind. — Representatives of charities in Fort Wayne will meet with Indiana Gaming Commission officials this week to discuss regulations the groups see as overly intrusive.
The Journal Gazette reports the groups say they aren't opposed to regulation but think some rules go too far.
One example cited by Stop Child Abuse and Neglect is a requirement that volunteers who work at their gaming events provide personal information. SCAN says the requirement is making it more difficult to get volunteers.
Commission Director Ernest Yelton insists the information was secure and says the requirement is to make sure organizations don't hire professional operators.
The newspaper says charities also are upset by requirements that they not allow credit card use and must keep gaming revenue in a separate bank account.
