Braiman makes bid for Buffalo Grove president official
Buffalo Grove Trustee Jeffrey Braiman made his bid to lead the community as its next village president official Monday, the first day of candidate filing for the April 5 consolidated election.
Thus far, Braiman has no challenger in his attempt to replace three-term incumbent Village President Elliott Hartstein, who is not seeking re-election. The filing period continues through Monday, Dec. 20.
Incumbent village trustees Jeffrey Berman and Steve Trilling, along with former candidate Mike Terson, filed petitions to seek three village board seats carrying four-year terms.
Another former candidate, Andy Stein, filed to run for the unexpired two-year term of ousted village trustee Lisa Stone, who was recalled by voters in November. Stone's replacement, Eric Smith, was appointed earlier this month to serve until the April election.
Also, noted atheist activist Rob Sherman filed petitions to challenge incumbent Village Clerk Jan Sirabian in the April election.
A lottery will be held at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 20 to determine the order of the trustee and clerk candidates on the ballot.
