Aurora police hunt for hit-and-run driver

A 30-year-old Michigan man was killed Sunday morning during a hit-and-run in Aurora, officials said.

Police said the accident was reported at 4:29 a.m. on Butterfield Road, just west of Eola Road.

Robert Vincz, of Michigan, was transported to Provena-Mercy Hospital in Aurora where he was pronounced dead at 5:13 a.m., officials said.

Police officials said Vincz was walking along Butterfield with another man after their car broke down when Vincz was struck from behind by a vehicle heading east on Butterfield Road.

The driver of the vehicle stopped for a brief period, but fled before the arrival of police, authorities said.

The hit-and-run vehicle was described as a dark-colored sedan and last was seen heading east on Butterfield toward Eola Road.

The driver was a white male, about 5 feet, 9 inches tall, and weighing about 165 pounds. He has dark-colored hair, is in his mid-20s, and has multiple tattoos on both arms and his neck.

Police said the man had at least one piercing in his ears.
