The skinny: The Wildcats have played the fewest games in Division I, but they're about to make up for their 12 days without a game. NU suits up five times in an 11-day stretch, starting with this uptempo clash with the Blackbirds. According to Ken Pomeroy's website, Long Island plays at the 15th-fastest tempo in the nation. The Blackbirds have four double-figure scorers and attack the rim so hard they average 31 free-throw attempts per game. Northwestern took fall quarter exams last week and didn't hold a practice with everyone available until Friday night. John Shurna entered Sunday's games ranked 13th nationally in scoring (22.4 ppg) and fifth in 3-point shooting (62.1 percent).
