Illinois State defeats Illinois-Chicago 53-43

NORMAL . — Austin Hill scored 15 points Saturday night to lead Illinois State to a 53-43 victory over Illinois-Chicago.

Hill was the only player in double figures for the Redbirds (7-3) in the low-scoring contest. Both teams were 18-of-49 from the field, or 36.7 percent. The difference was at the free-throw line, where Illinois State was 14-of-24 while Illinois-Chicago was 4-of-6.

Paul Carter had a double-double for the Flames (4-6) with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Robo Kreps had 13 points for Illinois-Chicago.

The Redbirds led 27-18 at halftime. Neither team was able to score in a 5-minute stretch during the first half.
