Eastern Illinois turns back Western Illinois 61-58

CHARLESTON -- James Hollowell's double-double led Eastern Illinois to a 61-58 victory over Western Illinois on Saturday night.

Hollowell scored 14 points with 10 rebounds for the Panthers (4-6), who broke a two-game losing streak.

Jeremy Granger had 15 points and five assists for Eastern Illinois, and Shaun Pratl scored 10.

Kaimarr Price scored 14 to lead the Leathernecks (5-5). Matt Lander had 13 and Tommie Tyler 12, but Lander went just 4 of 19 from the floor and Tyler made only 4 of 13 free throws.

Eastern Illinois led 45-31 with 15:37 left and 58-52 with 30 seconds left when Western's Jack Houpt sank three free throws. Granger came right back with two for the Panthers, but Lander drained a 3-pointer to cut it 60-58 with 22 seconds left. Hollowell hit a free throw for a three-point edge, and when Lander misfired from 3-point range, the Panthers had won.
