Man charged with having sex encounter with minor

A man is accused of having a sexual encounter with a minor in Naperville, police said.

James W. French, 63, of Dakota, Il., is being held in DuPage County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bond, said Sgt. Gregg Bell of the Naperville Police Department. French is charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

Bell said Naperville police were contacted on Nov. 15 by the DuPage County Children's Center regarding a sexual encounter the agency had uncovered. After learning the victim was a Naperville minor, French's Dakota residence was searched on Dec. 2.
