Elgin Post Office to Feature Holiday Evergreen Forever Stamps at Window Wonderland

ELGIN – The U.S. Postal Service will feature the 2010 Holiday Evergreen Forever stamps as part of downtown Elgin's Window Wonderland holiday event this Saturday, December 4 at 2:00 p.m. at the 10 North Douglas building.

Starting at 12:00 p.m., Elgin Postmaster Susan Meathe will be available to greet customers and offer holiday mailing and shipping tips, and provide some free giveaways to people attending the event. Representatives from the Elgin Post Office will also be selling the stamps during the event until 4:00 p.m.

These beautiful new stamps feature close-up views of the foliage and cones of four different conifers: ponderosa pine, eastern red cedar, blue spruce and balsam fir.

The artist, the late Ned Seidler, was a gifted painter of nature subjects. When painting flora, he frequently used cuttings from plants and trees in his own yard as a reference. To learn more about the Postal Service's stamp program, visit www.beyondtheperf.com.

The stamps can purchased at the Elgin Post Office, online at www.usps.com and at the Meijer store on Randall Road in Elgin.
