Schiller DuCanto & Fleck honored with “Best Lawyers of the Year”
Best Lawyers in America has named Lake Bluff resident Charles J. Fleck and Lake Forest resident Carlton Marcyan, both of Schiller DuCanto & Fleck LLP in Lake Forest, the 2011 Chicago Family Law “Lawyers of the Year.” Schiller DuCanto & Fleck is the only firm in the greater Chicago metropolitan area to hold this distinction in both the traditional area of litigation as well as the emerging area of collaborative law.
Fleck, a partner with Schiller DuCanto & Fleck, is being recognized as the Family Law Lawyer of the Year while Marcyan, partner and executive committee chairman, was named the Collaborative Lawyer of the Year.
The recognition is based on comprehensive confidential surveys in which leading lawyers in the Chicago market rate the professional abilities of their contemporaries. This is the first year in which Best Lawyers, the oldest and most respected peer-review publications in the legal profession, is designating “Lawyers of the Year” in high-profile legal specialties in larger legal communities.

Since joining Schiller DuCanto & Fleck in 1982 he has litigated complex cases involving property division and business and other asset valuation issues, custody, child removal, and maintenance (alimony) and support. Prior to joining the firm he had a proven track record as a state legislator and an accomplished judicial career within the Cook County Court Circuit Court.
Marcyan has been listed in Best Lawyers since 2005. He has also been selected for inclusion in Illinois Super Lawyers since 2005, Leading Illinois Attorney since 1998 and Leading Lawyers since 2003. He was presented the Distinguished Service Award in 2000 by Chicago Volunteer Legal Services Foundation. An experienced trial lawyer who primarily focuses on complex financial litigation he has embraced the practice of collaborative law which is an out-of-court alternative to resolve marital disputes that avoids the stress and some of the high costs associated with taking the proceeding to a courtroom. One of his primary goals is to allow spouses to go through the process without ending up as life-long enemies. Prior to joining Schiller DuCanto and Fleck LLP, as a certified public accountant and certified financial planner he worked for one of the largest international accounting firms and the Internal Revenue Service.
