Report: Orioles making another run at Konerko
According to Jim Bowden, the former Washington Nationals general manager now working for Sirius XM radio, the Baltimore Orioles have offered White Sox free agent Paul Konerko a “significant” contract.
In 2005, the Orioles made a better offer to Konerko before he returned to the Sox with a five-year, $60 million deal.
At the end of the season, Konerko said he wanted to sign with a team that was relatively close to his off-season home in Scottsdale, Ariz. He also said playing for a contender was important.
Baltimore is on the other side of the map for Konerko, and the Orioles hold spring training in Florida.
In addition, Baltimore has been a perennial cellar dweller in the rugged AL East.
