Son charged in death of Wisconsin mother

HARRISON, Wis. -- A University of Wisconsin-Madison student is charged with killing his mother, who he claimed had died when their car became submerged in a central Wisconsin lake last June.

Lincoln County sheriff's officials say Chase Boruch called 911 after the car became submerged in Moraine Lake and told dispatchers he was able to free himself from the car, but that his mother was still inside the vehicle. By the time authorities arrived, Boruch had pulled the woman from the car, but 63-year-old Sally Pergolski was pronounced dead at the scene.

A warrant filed Monday in Lincoln County charges the 24-year-old Boruch with first-degree intentional homicide. Madison police arrested Boruch Monday night. The state Department of Criminal Investigation assisted sheriff's deputies in the case.
