Car crashes into Elgin church
A church in downtown Elgin had to be boarded up Monday afternoon after a vehicle crashed into the side of the building and shattered a window.
The accident happened around 3 p.m. when a four-door vehicle driving down Center Street drove off the road and into the side of the Vineyard Church of Elgin, on the 200 block of Division Street, according to the Elgin Fire Department.
The driver of the vehicle was transported to Sherman Hospital in Elgin with minor injuries, according to fire officials.
The crash shattered a half-basement window of the church.
Chruch officials could not be reached for comment Monday night.
