2 Ind. men die of carbon monoxide poisoning
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Police say two South Bend men died in their home of apparent carbon monoxide poisoning.
Police Capt. Phil Trent said that officers found mail piled up in the mailbox when they arrived Saturday and that an officer who tried to enter the house through a window was forced out when he couldn't breathe inside.
WSBT-TV reports a coroner ruled the deaths of 30-year-old Daniel Shivers and 39-year-old Victor Smith as accidental. Police say Smith's brother told them he hadn't seen his brother in a couple of days.
Firefighters in neighboring Mishawaka (mish-ah-WAH'-kuh) found a wheelchair-bound 65-year-old man dead inside in apartment Sunday after he was unable to get out of his bedroom.
