Aurora University to sponsor book drive

Aurora University students are collecting books for readers from Aurora to Afghanistan through Dec. 3.

The Books for Better Lives drive will benefit three groups: the Dominican Literacy Center, an Aurora agency serving immigrant women; Invisible Children, an agency supporting children's literacy in war areas; and U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.

According to instructor Kristin Johnson, the leading single contributor so far is the Big Rock Library, which contributed 150 books earlier this month.

Books can be dropped off at collection boxes in the Dunham Hall atrium, 1400 Marseillaise Place; Wackerlin Center, 430 S. Evanslawn Ave.; Institute for Collaboration lobby, 407 S. Calumet Ave.; and The Spot student center, 1305 Kenilworth Place.
