Montini's offense (358 yards per game/30.2 points) vs. Chatham Glenwood's defense (329.5 yards per game/24.9 points): Montini's spread offense has 3,116 yards passing, 1,533 yards rushing. Quarterback Matt Westerkamp targets three main receivers: Joey Borsellino, Anthony Taylor and all-stater Jordan Westerkamp, who has a scholarship offer from Illinois. The Broncos operate sideline to sideline and caught Kaneland with misdirection plays. Willis leads the Broncos in rushing, but an injury may have Montini again go to Frank Baer at back. In short-yardage/goal line Matt Westerkamp runs behind an offensive line that's improved all fall. Glenwood entered the playoffs trailing only Jacksonville in average points allowed, 33.0 to 24.1, and allows more yards than it gains. It's a bend-but-don't-break unit, aggressively blitzing and opportunistic; its 3 interceptions last week ran its total to 21. Rourke said several conference opponents use the spread, but he is concerned about the Westerkamp “cousin combination.” Eric Kerr leads the Titans with 133 tackles, followed by Zach Joos and John Barrows.

Chatham Glenwood's offense (320.1 yards per game/34.7 points) vs. Montini's defense (261.6 yards per game/11.7 points): The Titans' split-back offense ran for 3,056 yards and threw for 1,167. Halfback Tony Giovannelli earned all-state honors, but Devin Von Nordheim-Moore gained more. The ground game features trap and counter blocking, designed to take pressure off sophomore quarterback Miles McAdams. He mainly targets Division I prospect Raz Harris or Ian Richardson. The Titans will field two tight ends, a look Montini's 4-3 defense saw from St. Francis and Marian Central. Andriano said a solid ground game is “the formula to beat us,” but the Broncos thrive up front with three-year starting defensive tackle Ross Ferraro and two-year starting end Zech “Bubba” Tredenick. The linebacker trio of Alex Walters, Franklin Bruscianelli and all-stater Doug Diedrick is as good as it gets. Montini's defense, faster than people think but just as physical and ornery, gets overlooked. Its goal will be to force Glenwood into a one-dimensional passing game.

Intangibles: Unlike last season, Montini will be the favorite. This is familiar terrain to Glenwood, which was fourth in its conference and has nothing to lose. In a close game watch Montini kicker Matt Kersten, 4 of 6 in field goals of 40 yards or less, 0 of 4 beyond 40 yards; Glenwood's Luis Jimenez is 0 of 4 total. Montini has outscored foes 108-29 in the first quarter. Montini owns a plus-13 turnover ratio, Glenwood plus-10.
