Arlington Heights man arrested on charges of threats
An Arlington Heights man was arrested this week on allegations he made threats against a woman who had an order of protection against him, as well as one of her family members.
Christopher J. Muncer, 43, of the 2000 block of Nichols Road, faces charges of violating an order of protection and harassment or threat by electronic device stemming from a Lake Zurich police investigation begun last week.
Police Cmdr. Kevin Finlon said Muncer contacted the woman by phone and text message several times Nov. 19, despite an order of protection that specifically barred phone calls or electronic text messages.
The woman contacted police and proved he had contacted her, leading to a charge of violating an order of protection approved against Muncer Saturday, Finlon said.
Police were unable to locate Muncer until Tuesday, by which time he phoned a family member of the victim and made additional threats, Finlon said.
“During the conversation, Mr. Muncer told the family member his location,” Finlon said. “The victim immediately called police and a police officer patrolling the area spotted Mr. Muncer.”
Muncer was arrested late Tuesday night on Cuba Road, near Deerpath Road, Finlon said, about five minutes after police were contacted.
“Its obvious he was in the area because that's where some of the family members reside,” he said. “But his intentions of what he planned to do while here is unknown.”
Muncer was a transported to Lake County jail for bond court Wednesday. He remained in custody Friday in lieu of $100,000 bond.
