Enjoy movie with Arlington Hts. mayor

The weather is getting colder, and it's time to find indoor activities for youngsters, such as “Movie with the Mayor.”

Admission to the Arlington Heights event is not in the form of cash, but instead nonperishable food items. And a new, unwrapped toy (not stuffed animals) entitles the donor to a large, free popcorn. The food is for local families, and the toy for Toys for Tots.

The movies start at 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, with doors opening at 8 a.m. This all happens at the Arlington Theaters, 53 S. Evergreen Ave. at Arlington Town Square.

The three movies are “Fred Claus,” and “The Cat in the Hat,” which are rated PG, and a surprise G-rated movie.

The event is hosted by Mayor Arlene Mulder and Santa Claus, and there will also be singing and prizes.
