WEST BEND, Wis. -- About 30 members of a West Bend National Guard unit will leave Monday for training before heading to Iraq.
They are members of the 2nd Battalion, 135th Aviation Regiment. The mobilization is expected to last about one year, including two months of training at Fort Hood, Texas, with counterpart units from other states.
The unit will support medical evacuation missions while overseas. About 700 Wisconsin National Guard members are on active duty, mostly in Iraq.
