Police seek help locating Hanover Park robbery suspect

Hanover Park Police are asking for the public's help to catch an armed robber who held up a local business Monday evening.

The incident took place about 5:17 p.m. at Charles Fast Foods #4, a restaurant connected to the Shell gas station at Lake Street and Ontarioville Road.

The offender threatened employees with a semiautomatic handgun and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, Deputy Police Chief Tom Cortese said. He then ran toward the Westline Apartments.

No customers were present at the time and nobody was hurt.

The robber was described as a black male, about 5-feet-8 to 5-feet-10 inches tall with a medium build. He was last seen wearing white sweatpants and a gray hooded sweatshirt with an unknown logo possibly a Chicago White Sox emblem on the left sleeve. He also was wearing black gloves, black gym shoes, and a black mask.

Cortese said police don't have anyone in custody and that the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information about the robbery should contact Hanover Park Police at (630) 372-4400.
